Family Formal Portraits

A perfect guide to Family Formals

Your wedding day is a whirlwind of emotions, celebrations, and cherished moments. While it might not be the most exhilarating part of the day, these images have the power to become the most treasured snapshots in your family's history, creating a visual legacy to be passed down from generation to generation. While the wedding day may be a blur of joy and excitement, family portraits provide a tangible token of remembrance. In the years to come, as life's journey unfolds, these images serve as a reminder of the support system that stood beside you on your big day. They become cherished anchors, grounding you in the love and warmth of family.

Tips for Capturing Timeless Family Portraits:

  • Plan Ahead:

Consider about 1-2 minutes per each group of people. *Elders and disabled people may take longer. Be considerate of the location and everyones ability to get there.

  • Consider overall schedule.

If you have a very long list of family members you may want to photograph all before the ceremony so that your family can enjoy the cocktail hour.

Another option is to split the list before and after the ceremony.

You may also chose to photograph immediate family members during your Rehearsal Dinner. This will give you extra freedom on your wedding day (*additional session has to be booked separately )

  • Notify in Advance.

While the exact location is usually unknown and may change depending on weather and light, it’s a good idea to send everyone a meeting location and time. Invite all to be at the location 5-10 minutes before the official scheduled session time. There is always someone who is running a bit late
